Nintendo Switch 2 gets a four-minute overview trailer for Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy, spelling out what the enhanced package includes before launch.1
The trailer walks through the core loop: grow, pluck, guide, and send plantlike Pikmin into fights against much larger creatures. Types on the roster include fire-resistant Red Pikmin, Ice Pikmin that can freeze water, and Glow Pikmin that light the way at night. Players create and customize a pint-sized explorer and move through a world Nintendo describes as visually enhanced with high-resolution graphics for Switch 2 in both TV and handheld modes.1
Dandori Academy is the major new block. Dandori is framed as the skill of commanding Pikmin well, and the academy packages that into an extensive set of exam stages where players test that skill and earn in-game medals. A total of 72 stages will release over time at varied difficulty so players can pick stages that match their level.1 Taking those exams also unlocks more in-app maps.2
Multiplayer and companion tools get Switch 2-specific hooks. Dandori Battles support a friend on the same system, and GameShare works locally or online via GameChat even when the other player does not own the game. Dependable partner Oatchi can take voice commands through the Switch 2 system microphone.1
The full release is set for Switch 2 on November 12. The edition is listed at $69.99 in the US and £58.99 in the UK. Players who already own Pikmin 4 on Switch have an upgrade path at $9.99 US or £7.99 UK.3
A free demo is available on Switch 2 starting November 2. It opens the starting area plus two Dandori Academy stages, and save data can transfer to the full game.32 Nintendo also ran a Treehouse play session timed with Pikmin Day; that broadcast is up on the company’s YouTube channel for a longer hands-on look ahead of the date.3
For anyone who already owns Switch 2 hardware—including buyers watching current price cuts like the Woot Switch 2 deal—the pitch is the original expedition with sharper visuals, mic-driven Oatchi commands, shared battles without a second copy, and a long runway of academy exams.
Our read: This is a clear package for Switch 2 owners: enhanced presentation, a free demo with save transfer, a cheap upgrade if you already bought the Switch version, and 72 academy stages still rolling out after the whistle. Standings check: Nintendo’s Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition adds Dandori Academy exams, microphone voice commands for Oatchi, high-resolution visuals, GameShare battles, a free demo from November 2, and a $9.99 / £7.99 upgrade path, with the full game due November 12.
