Analysts estimate Grand Theft Auto 6 pre-orders have already generated more than $730 million in revenue, and about 74 percent of those orders sit on PlayStation 5.1
That split lines up with an earlier cut from Sensor Tower. As of October 13, the firm counted 6.08 million digital pre-orders in the United States and put estimated revenue at $594 million, with 74 percent on PlayStation and 26 percent on Xbox.2 The vast majority of those orders were for the $100 Ultimate Edition.2 Sensor Tower’s comparison tracks digital U.S. pre-orders only and leaves boxed copies out of the sample.2
Rockstar priced the standard edition at $79.99 in the United States and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99 when digital pre-orders opened in June. UK and European tags followed at £69.99 and €79.99 for standard, and £89.99 and €99.99 for Ultimate.3 The game is due November 19 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-loading set to begin November 12.4
On volume, Sensor Tower had GTA 6 running 148 percent ahead of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022) at the same point before launch.2 Modern Warfare 2 was among the stronger recent openers, with an $800 million opening weekend for that series.2 Earlier this year, analyst first-year unit forecasts for GTA 6 ranged from 30 million to more than 50 million.2
The platform mix is the clearest signal in the book. Three-quarters of the tracked digital pre-orders are on Sony’s console with weeks still to go, and demand in the lead-up has already made PS5 Pro units hard to find at retail price.5 Xbox holds the remaining quarter of that digital U.S. sample.2
Outlook: the next hard numbers arrive after November 19, when pre-order estimates give way to opening sell-through and a fuller platform mix.
Our read: The $730 million headline sits on top of a mid-October U.S. digital sample already near $600 million, so the direction is steady even while the exact total remains an estimate. The 74 percent PlayStation share is the firmer takeaway: it holds from the October Sensor Tower cut through the newer figure and concentrates early dollars on one storefront. A post-launch mix that shifts once physical copies—and any later channels outside this digital U.S. frame—are counted would change the reading. Until then, the pre-order book is front-loading cash the way a franchise this size is built to, and the platform split is doing the same.
