Seventy-five percent. That is the cut on Resident Evil 4 at Steam: $9.99, down from $39.99, per the store page.1 Call it a stolen base on a game that holds a 96% positive score across 73,942 English reviews.1
| Deal | Price | Usual | Store | Ends |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Resident Evil 4 | $9.99 | $39.99 | Steam | - |
| Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition | $14.99 | $49.99 | Steam | - |
| Resident Evil Remake Trilogy | $29.39 | $69.99 | Steam | - |
| Resident Evil 4 Extra DLC Pack | $15.14 | $25.91 | Steam | - |
The store page labels the base game’s price a special promotion with a countdown, but the page text I have shows no end date, so I will not print one.1 Treat the clock as unknown and move accordingly.
Here is my call on each:
- Resident Evil 4, $9.99: Buy it. Ten bucks for a remake that Metacritic scores at 91 is the cleanest value per dollar on the board.1
- Gold Edition, $14.99: Buy it if you want Ada Wong’s Separate Ways campaign and the extra costumes and weapons. It bundles those with the main game for $5 more than the base price.1
- Remake Trilogy, $29.39: Buy it only if you are missing the other remakes. It covers Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 plus a pile of add-ons, discounted 58%.1
- Extra DLC Pack, $15.14: Skip it unless you own the base game and want every costume. The bundle is 42% off, but the pieces are mostly cosmetic.1
A note for the spreadsheet crowd: Separate Ways sells alone for $9.99 and The Mercenaries mode is free, so the Gold Edition math works out well if you want both.1
These prices were as listed when this ran and may change.
