AMD posts record $13.4 billion quarter as data center leads
Lisa Su called Q3 2026 AMD’s largest and most profitable quarter ever after $13.4 billion in revenue, driven by $8.5 billion from data center chips.

AMD CEO Lisa Su told the company’s earnings call on Tuesday that the third quarter of 2026 was the “largest and most profitable in our history,” after AMD booked a record $13.4 billion in quarterly revenue.1
Data center chips did the work. That business brought in $8.5 billion in the quarter and now makes up roughly 63 percent of AMD’s net quarterly revenue. The company-wide gain tracked it almost one-to-one: total revenue rose $1.9 billion, while data center revenue rose $1.8 billion.1
AMD is already aiming higher. It forecasts $17 billion in revenue next quarter. Su said the company expects revenue to grow more than 80 percent in 2027, with data center the largest contributor. CFO Jean Hu added that looking ahead of 2027, AMD thinks data center will be more than 80 percent of total company revenue.1
Picture a dual-rail power supply on the bench: one rail is carrying almost the whole load while the other runs light. Gaming revenue fell 40 percent from a year earlier, to $773 million. PCs, game consoles, and other consumer gear have taken price hikes in recent months as RAM and related parts stay scarce, with AI data center demand soaking up supply. Intel has said it does not expect that shortage to improve next year, and SK Hynix has predicted it will last until 2030.1
Su said higher component prices feed into higher system prices, and consumer markets are more sensitive to that squeeze. AMD has seen a slowdown in sell-through and is planning with the current environment for a down year for 2027.1
The same parts pipeline is why supply trips keep mattering. In our November 1 report we noted that Su and Nvidia’s Jensen Huang had each visited South Korea twice since last year to shore up supply ties, a point first reported by Yahoo Finance.2 Separately, Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan has talked with Su about possible cooperation, though neither side has said what the two companies might make together, as TechRadar first reported.3
This account of the call and the quarter’s figures is drawn from The Verge’s report on the earnings.
On the bench: If you are buying a gaming GPU or a console-class PC, this record quarter is not the relief valve—data center demand is still setting the heat on RAM and board pricing, and AMD is already planning around a softer consumer year in 2027.
