Acer’s Predator Atlas 8 gaming handheld will go on sale in the United States on November 1, exclusively at Best Buy, for $1,300, according to Engadget’s report of the retailer’s listing.1

Only one configuration is coming: the more powerful Intel Arc G3 Extreme version, not the regular Intel Arc 3 model. That unit pairs Intel Arc B390 graphics with 12 Xe3 GPU cores and 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM, behind an 8-inch, 500-nit, 120Hz IPS display.1

The controller side of the story is the kind of hardware checklist that makes a silicon editor lean in. Engadget notes dual-mode triggers, TMR joysticks, and high-bandwidth docking, plus a microSD UHS-II slot, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4.1 Like other PC handhelds, it runs Windows 11 and works with Xbox Game Pass and the titles that subscription includes.1

Think of a high-end Windows handheld as a compact workstation that has to carry its own power plant, screen, and controls in one chassis: every watt and every gigabyte of bandwidth has to earn its keep on the bus. The Atlas 8’s Arc G3 Extreme kit is Acer’s bid to put a denser graphics and memory package on that bus than the lighter Arc 3 option would have allowed—and Best Buy is only stocking the denser one.1

This is Acer’s first gaming handheld to go on official sale in the US. The device was announced in May, when practical questions about American availability and price were still open. Last month the company also showed the Predator Atlas 7, a smaller 7-inch model that likewise uses the Intel Arc G3 Extreme chip; Engadget says there is still no word on whether that sleeker unit will be sold stateside.1

Price is not subtle. $1,300 is a steep ask for a Windows handheld, and Engadget flags that many shoppers may not be lining up at that number. Best Buy’s pre-orders for the Atlas 8 still sold out immediately, the retailer told the outlet, and a fresh round of online orders is set for November 1, the same day the handheld reaches stores.1

What it means for you: if you want this exact Arc G3 Extreme, 24GB, 8-inch package, mark November 1 and Best Buy—online restock and in-store arrival land together, and the first pre-order wave already cleared the shelf.
