Enshrouded 1.0 earns warm early notices for building and combat
A roundup of published reviews for Keen Games’ survival-crafting 1.0: the finished Embervale build draws praise for combat variety, free-form building, and co-op sharing.

The marquee lights are up on Enshrouded 1.0, and the first-night notices lean warm. This is a roundup of published reviews, not a first-hand play from our seats: after a long early-access run, Keen Games’ survival action RPG has a finished map and story arc on PC and PlayStation 5, with Xbox Series still scheduled later, and the written verdicts treat the launch build as a fuller show than the one that opened years ago.12
| Outlet | Score | In a line |

| GamingBolt | - | Completer package; building and combat lead the praise |
No numeric score appears in the write-up on hand. Rock Paper Shotgun covered the launch as news rather than a graded review, so the table stays short until more desks post numbers.12
Where critics agree
The core loop is still gather, build, house NPCs for crafting, and push into the Shroud for rare materials and bosses. What 1.0 adds, the reviews and launch notes say, is breadth on top of that spine: more accessible construction tools, a reworked skill tree with melee, ranged, magic, and heavy options, extra biomes and dungeons, and co-op bolstered by Adventure Sharing so friends can join shared worlds or tour someone else’s builds. The world remains hand-crafted rather than randomly rolled, with settlements, deep dungeons, and fast travel, and the combat write-ups stress fluid fights that still ask for stamina management, blocks, parries, dodges, and stacked buffs from food, gear, and base design. Bosses get called out as the combat peak, each with distinct moves and weaknesses. Building reads simple at first glance and free-form enough for elaborate structures once you lean in. Launch coverage matches that additive picture: a completed Embervale map, main quest routing to remaining locales, story wrapped “for now,” character levels to 50 and gear to 55, voice-acted lore in English, German, and Mandarin Chinese, Sparkworks logic for player-made interactions and dungeons, and rendering work meant to make biomes feel more distinct.12
Where they split
With only one full review text in this stack and no printed score on it, there is no real house quarrel yet—no split over pacing, performance, or whether the RPG tilt outshines the survival loop. GamingBolt frames the 1.0 work as additive rather than a reinvention, and still notes the early-access version once felt derivative of genre peers; the same outlet now says the finished build can play like an open-world RPG once a base is down, as long as story progress still means housing NPCs for the next quests. That is emphasis, not a counter-verdict from a second desk.1
Our read: This early notice is aimed at players who want a co-op survival-crafting RPG with a authored continent, heavy building, and boss-led combat, and who will take a strong qualitative pass over a waiting score consensus. Anyone holding out for Xbox Series, or for a wider spread of numbered reviews, still has reason to wait while more outlets weigh in.
Final curtain: no low score and no high score on the board yet—only GamingBolt’s unscoring applause for a completer 1.0.1
