World of Horror is a cosmic horror RPG, and its biggest update yet is out now on PC. Publisher Ysbryd Games and developer Panstasz call it “AS BELOW SO ABOVE”, and it makes the game 20 percent bigger. It costs nothing for people who already own the game.1
The facts: Panstasz made the game and Ysbryd Games publishes it. The source does not say how big either team is. The game is on PlayStation 4, Switch and PC through Steam, GOG and itch.io. The update is live on PC, and PS4 and Switch versions arrive in 2027.1
The detail that caught my eye is IKT-YOSIS, THE FIRST NIGHTMARE, an Old God that sleeps in a vast chamber under the mountains. Every ritual performed to wake him reshapes the world above, and the weather turns strange. A fear meter that changes the sky is the kind of idea a small team can land hard.1
There is also THE WAR FOR SHIOKAWA, where four cults summon their eldritch masters at the same time and drag the town into pure evil. Three new playable characters join in, including KIRIKO, a tarotist whose cards decide the town’s fate, and SATOSHI, a young hiker who knows the mountains around town.1
Field note: the new Scenario Mode tells self-contained stories set before the main game. The first, FOREST OF FEAR / TAPES OF TRAGEDY, follows MAKOTO, an overachieving school AV club member who decides to film a documentary about the forest’s oldest legend. A documentary about a cursed forest is a terrific way to walk into trouble. These stories expand the lore and tie different mysteries together.1
Modders get more room too. Steam Workshop now offers more ways to customize the enemies, events and mysteries they create.1
The update also adds new events, enemies, items, spells, curses and injuries, plus quality-of-life features and bug fixes.1
Worth knowing: the update is free and live on PC now. The game is sold on Steam, GOG and itch.io.1
Our read: a fifth more game, free, plus a mode that opens up the lore is a generous gift to existing players. Console owners now have a 2027 date to watch.1
