Stardew Valley 1.7 aims for 2027 as largest update yet

Solo developer ConcernedApe says the free 1.7 patch will be Stardew Valley’s biggest ever and will probably arrive sometime in 2027.

“Clint and Sandy are just the tip of the iceberg.” That one line from a Colorado stage is the specimen: a free update so large the already-known marriage candidates barely start the list. Stardew Valley is the farm-and-town life sim solo developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone still tends on PC, consoles, and mobile more than a decade after its February 2016 launch.

At the finale of the Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons soundtrack tour at Red Rocks late last month, Barone thanked fans and said work is underway on update 1.7. He called it “jam-packed,” said it is looking to be the largest Stardew Valley update ever, and told the crowd players are in for a real treat, with a probable arrival sometime in 2027.12

Clint the blacksmith and Sandy of the Oasis shop were already confirmed as new marriage candidates for 1.7, and a new farm type was already on the known list. The stage remark frames all of that as only a fraction of what is coming, with the rest still under wraps.34

Fans first heard 1.7 was happening at all in August 2025, when Barone confirmed the patch after many had assumed the sizable 1.6 drop might be the last major free content while he shifted toward his next game, Haunted Chocolatier. He has kept most of 1.7’s contents quiet since, and he gave no early-or-late timing inside 2027. When it lands, the update is expected to reach the Steam build for Windows, Mac, and Linux.23

That is the plain shape: one-person studio, farming sim still growing free, no month locked and no full feature list public. Prior large patches such as 1.5 and 1.6 brought new regions, festivals, and systems; Barone is now setting 1.7 above those in scale without spelling out how.3

Worth knowing: this is for anyone still running a farm who wants more romance options and a bigger free drop than the ones already shipped. No new store page is required—the update rides the platforms the game already lives on.

Our read: A 2027 window plus a largest-ever claim keeps a decade-old indie sim in the conversation while its maker also builds something new. The timing is still loose, so patience is the practical plan; a month, a trailer, or a public feature list would tighten the picture. Until then the story is the scope tease itself—visible romance names as the tip of a much larger free specimen.
