Witchbrook slips to January 28, 2027 with its first firm release date

The new Witchbrook release date is arriving with a note about doors. “We can’t wait to open Witchbrook College’s grand doors to new students in January,” Chucklefish and Robotality wrote in announcing that the cozy witch-life sim now launches on January 28, 2027. The game comes to PC through Steam at $25.1

If you haven’t met it: Witchbrook is a witch-life sim set at a magical college, with a town called Mossport waiting beyond the gates. Chucklefish first teased it in 2017 as something like Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter.1

This is the second slip in a row. A year ago the game moved from 2025 to 2026, and now it moves again, into 2027. The difference is that this time there is an actual date. By PC Gamer’s account, it is the first proper release date Witchbrook has ever had, after a release window that did not hold.1

The developers framed the extra time as care. “Thank you for all of your support and patience, especially within the last year,” they wrote, saying the time went into a game they are “truly proud of.”1

One thing the PC Gamer report does not cover is Xbox Game Pass. It does not mention a day-one launch there, so we are not repeating that claim here. Check the developers’ announcement and the Steam page before planning around any subscription.

Our read: A second delay stings, but trading a vague window for a January date a few months out is the kind of delay a small team can stand behind. The game has been in the public eye since 2017, so a few more months is a short stretch. Watch for the physical editions Chucklefish is preparing, which will be revealed and released at some point after the initial launch.1

Worth knowing: Witchbrook launches January 28, 2027 for $25 on Steam.
