Ubisoft says no Assassin's Creed remakes in development, Hexe update set for 2027
Ubisoft's fall franchise update confirms no remakes in the works, pushes Codename Hexe news to 2027 and brings New Game Plus to Valhalla on November 5.

Ubisoft told Assassin’s Creed fans on Thursday, October 29, that it has no remake in active development. The statement came in its fall franchise update, and it reverses the tone set by CEO Yves Guillemot, who said in June 2024 that multiple remakes were planned.12
The company’s wording was direct: it has “no other Assassin’s Creed remake actively in development,” and its teams are focused on the next chapter, including projects not yet announced, with new settings and stories.1 Ubisoft left a door open, saying it will keep exploring ways to bring older titles back.1 Anyone waiting on a follow-up to Black Flag Resynced, which launched July 9, should plan for a long wait.34
What is coming
Codename Hexe, the next single-player game, gets its next major update in 2027. Ubisoft says it is making steady progress with work still ahead, and thanked fans for their patience.4 Hexe was announced in 2022 and is set in the 17th-century Holy Roman Empire, with witch hunts playing a large role.1 No release window has been given.
Codename Invictus, the multiplayer project, is still in development. Ubisoft says players saw potential in its foundations but wanted more of the pillars that define the series, and the game has been reworked toward that.14 Ubisoft also warned that information found online about Invictus may be outdated or inaccurate.4
On the live side, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gets New Game Plus on November 5. It brings an optional progression mode, new runes and achievements, a stash system, a new upgrade resource called Mithril, and a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe in Shadows.13 Valhalla has passed 40 million players, Ubisoft says.3 Black Flag Resynced has received its final major update, which adds New Game Plus, Nightmare Mode and new rewards, with quality-of-life patches to follow.34
The rest of the slate: the Netflix live-action series is nearing completion in Rome, with Hannah Peel composing the score, and 2027 marks the franchise’s 20th anniversary, for which Ubisoft is preparing a year of reveals, updates and rewards.1
The strategy underneath
Ubisoft also described a new leadership team led by Martin Schelling, built from franchise veterans, and a community survey that surfaced three concerns: protecting the series’ identity, a more coherent narrative, and more regular communication.3 The stated principles are staying true to what makes the series unique, innovating, delivering variety, and raising quality and consistency.3
Our read: The remake line is the headline, and it is a quiet retreat. Two years ago remakes were a pillar of the pitch; now the money and attention go to Hexe, Invictus and unannounced projects. The community survey language reads like a franchise trying to win back its core audience after a period of experimentation. The outlook is plain: nothing new on Hexe until 2027, and a lot of tending to existing games until then.
