Here is what changed: Thief: The Dark Project Remastered now has a date, December 3, and it is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. Atari is publishing, with Nightdive Studios and Eidos Montreal developing. Pre-orders are open now. 1
The Standard Edition is $29.99 (£24.99 / €29.99 / ¥3,850). The Digital Deluxe Edition is $34.99 (£28.99 / €34.99 / ¥4,840) and adds a remaster diary of the in-game artwork, the soundtrack and a novel preview of Thief: The Dark Project. Physical editions for PS5 and Switch 2, distributed by Clear River Games, are also up for pre-order at retailers such as VGP. 1
The package is built on Nightdive’s KEX Engine. It bundles the original game’s 12 missions with the three extra missions from the 1999 Thief: Gold re-release, which also deepen the plot and add five new enemy types. That makes 15 missions in total as the publisher describes it. 1
On tech, the listing promises up to 4K resolution at 120 frames per second, refreshed textures, models and animations, and small fixes to the original level design. Controls get a modern pass: a weapon and item wheel, rumble, and motion/gyro support. Trophies are included, and a mission selector lets you replay anything you have finished. Built-in support for custom campaigns is on the feature list too. 1
One figure needs a flag. An X post from @IdleSloth84_ says the remaster has “4 new missions.” That number does not appear in the Gematsu overview, which counts three Gold missions on top of the original 12. Treat the four-mission claim as an unverified post, not a confirmed detail. 2
If the team or the publisher puts out a date, it goes on the board.
For anyone who already owns a console or a PC, the practical picture is simple. If you want the game on the day, the pre-order is the $29.99 standard copy, or $34.99 for the extras. Everything is listed in the same-day release on the platforms above. 1
Our read: This is a straightforward preservation-style revival: a 1998 stealth game and its Gold expansion, cleaned up and put on current hardware, with a price that is stated and a date that comes from the publisher rather than a leak. The final whistle on the pre-order window is December 3. What would change the picture is any word on how the 4K/120 fps target holds up on each platform, or a confirmed mission count beyond the 15 the overview describes. We do not know yet how the older-generation versions compare. Standings check: Thief: The Dark Project Remastered adds a $29.99 listing and a December 3 date across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo and PC storefronts, with a $34.99 deluxe tier alongside. What it costs you: $29.99, or $34.99 with the extras. 12
