Hot off the wire: Nikita Buyanov, game director behind Escape from Tarkov, has put his next project on the table. Fragmentary Order is a hardcore sci-fi tactical shooter, and the first proper look is 14 minutes of in-engine gameplay.1

The setting is the Solar System in 2251. Warfare is an outsourced business. Players control remotely operated clones called RepEnts, sent into large combat zones on dangerous missions. Losing a clone is not the end of the road. In this setup, death is another business expense, though careless play still costs.1

The game uses large-scale environments, changing conditions, vehicles, drones, and advanced systems. Squads of up to four can team up, with coordination and planning carrying real weight. The footage also shows looting, inventory management, weapon customization, and firefights that will feel familiar to Tarkov players, moved into a futuristic frame.1

Buyanov’s pitch is long-haul. In a statement he said, “We’re not building a match you play.” He framed a world players live in for years and said he hopes Fragmentary Order stays as engaging a decade from now as Escape from Tarkov has been.1

Alongside the reveal he opened Prime Batch, a paid closed testing program. Candidate is $44.99 and covers alpha sessions, major technical playtests, a Candidate ranking designation, and an exclusive in-game package. Founder is $79.99 and adds earlier access to experimental builds, roadmap visibility, a Founder package, and a private community with direct developer access.1

The first closed alpha wave is planned for later this year under a nondisclosure agreement. Fragmentary Order has no confirmed full release date. These details rest on a single Polygon report from November 4.1

Our read: Buyanov is moving the extraction loop into space and selling years of world-time, not match queues. Paid NDA alphas put early weight on dedicated players before any ship date is locked. The open question is whether RepEnts and 2251 hold the same pull once the footage stops rolling.
