Player Waits Patient Hours, Then Gets a Second Patch
A brand-new release arrives complete, pending one small update that is 48 gigabytes.
Local player Dana Whitcomb spent Friday night unwrapping a new release and waiting for the installer to finish. It did not finish. At 11:52 p.m., a notice appeared: a day-one patch was required before the game could be opened. The patch was 48 gigabytes. Its notes read, in full, "Stability improvements."
Whitcomb started the download anyway. The progress bar sat at 0 percent for three hours while a small animated cat slept on a cloud in the corner. When it reached 100, a second patch was required. The first, she was told, had only updated the launcher.
By sunrise she had not seen the title screen. Lantern Hollow Interactive has confirmed the game is complete and will be playable shortly, pending version 1.0.2. Whitcomb has been asked to keep the launcher open. She has not left the chair since.
