Sonic Global Community Director Aaron Webber has outlined the package ahead of that date, framing it as new additions, changes, and improvements for the racer.1
Duel Mode is the fresh head-to-head lane: race a single opponent with the new Duel Boost mechanic across Rival Duel, Duel Match Free Match, Duel Match Best-of-10, and Friend Match.1
The gadget system gets a step up too. A new Grand Master Plate adds a seventh super slot for 1-slot gadgets and a boosted effect, while 15 new gadgets join the pool.1
PvP balance work touches gadgets and racing stats, shortens the cooltime for rings to reappear in online mode only, and adjusts machine types plus COMs.1
World Match mode picks up a free match option with no ranking changes for casual runs, plus Rivals that hand out extra Donpa tickets on a win. The main menu screen gets an overhaul to fit the new modes.1
More content lands alongside those systems. Play Missions let players clear daily objectives for tickets and medals. The Sega Fighting Beats Infinity album arrives, and new collaboration decals join the mix.1
Other feature work adds more gadget plates, a bookmark function for gadgets, extra gadget filters, a change to the maximum Likes cap, and assorted bug fixes.1
Live festival rules shift as well. Festivals now run 10 days. Rankings move to Winning Streak Rankings. AI Rival Teams become available as opponents, and more Crown types get awarded online.1
Year Two also brings free and paid characters and machines. The free character slate starts with Bayonetta on November 3, followed by McLaren Racing (Sonic) later this month and Aigis in early 2027.1
That is the scoreboard for anyone already on the track when the whistle blows on the 2.0.0 drop: new modes, gadget depth, mission rewards, festival length, and the free character cadence from Bayonetta onward, with paid options in the same Year Two wave.1
Our read: Standings check: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds on Switch and Switch 2 adds Version 2.0.0 with Duel Mode, gadget upgrades, festival rule changes, and free characters led by Bayonetta on November 3. Season’s long, folks.
