Persona 1 remake footage seemingly leaks, and Atlus hasn't confirmed a thing

Nearly two minutes of apparent gameplay from an unannounced Persona 1 remake surfaced online. Atlus has announced nothing, so treat it as an unconfirmed leak.

Hot off the wire, and unconfirmed: nearly two minutes of what looks like a Persona 1 remake leaked online over Halloween weekend. Atlus has announced no such game. Everything below is leak, not fact.

The clip first spread through a YouTube channel called P1REMAKE and was then picked up across social media.1 A copy also landed on file-sharing site Gofile on October 31 under a Japanese filename that translates as “Megami Ibunroku Persona Remake”, and was shared on the GamingLeaksAndRumours subreddit.2 The footage reportedly carries the subtitle Be Your True Mind.2

Why do fans think it’s real? The menus and combat look like Persona 5 and Persona 3 Reload.2 Some viewers spotted what appears to be Unreal Engine debug text during a battle, and Atlus moved to that engine for Persona 3 Reload.2 The protagonist is called “Boy With Earring”, the name he goes by in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment.2 One character, Eriko, seems to share a summoning animation with Yukiko in Persona 4 Revival, which isn’t out until February 18, 2027.1

Now the soft spots. The video also shows Persona 2 protagonist Tatsuya, who may be standing in for an unfinished character model.1 Nobody knows when it was captured. It could be recent or years old, and some fans guess it’s a proof-of-concept or pitch video.1 AI fakes are everywhere these days, and skepticism is cheap insurance.1

The circumstantial case isn’t empty. Sega released Persona 3 Reload in 2024 and ships Persona 4 Revival in a few months.1 In August, P-Studio producer Kazuhisa Wada stopped short of confirming Persona 1 and 2 remakes but said they were something the team would probably do eventually.3

Our read: The details line up too neatly for me to call it a hoax, but a leak with no studio statement is still just a lead. Until Atlus puts its name on it, this stays in the rumor file. I’ll be here when the paperwork shows up.
