Forty billion dollars. That is the lifetime franchise revenue Call of Duty has now surpassed, according to IGN, right after the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4.1
The new game is the series’ 23rd mainline entry. It launched last Friday. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma posted the milestone on her X account alongside a graphic of favorable review scores for Modern Warfare 4.1
Sharma framed the haul as a win for a brand in its 24th year, calling it “an incredible milestone” and congratulating the Activision team while thanking players who stuck with the series.1
Here is the box score IGN puts next to that number. Grand Theft Auto 5 alone has taken in more than $10 billion across the past 13 years. The same report cites an estimate that the coming GTA 6 could clear $5.2 billion by the end of its first week on sale.1
Call of Duty’s total is franchise-wide lifetime revenue, not a single-sku first-week print. Sharma’s post ties the $40 billion mark directly to the Modern Warfare 4 launch window and to the long run of mainline drops behind it.1
IGN amplified the same revenue note on its own X account, linking out to the full report.2
For anyone reading the industry like a scoreboard, the headline figure is simple: $40 billion lifetime, 23 mainline games, 24 years on the clock, and another launch in the books as of last Friday. That is the number Sharma put on the board, and that is the number IGN carried.
